After the Start of 2026

With the new year but just begun,
I find already I must run,
For work already makes demands
Of my poor heart and poorer hands,
And what I would, I may not do
Because I must yet carry through
Some deeds for dollars. Still, I yearn
For things to take their rightwise turn.

My attention shifted to something I’d not done in a while: performing publicly as a saxophonist.
