After addressing questions from the previous class meeting and online, discussion turned towards concerns of the essay as a form, including theses and supporting argumentative structures. It also treated assignments for the week.

After reviewing questions from the previous class meeting and before and acknowledging delays in grading arising from recent instructor travel, discussion covered concerns arising from assigned readings. It then turned to consider upcoming assignments.

For what should have been the second class meeting, discussion spent time covering in brief some of the concerns that would have been addressed during the abortive first meeting–introductions to the instructor and course, as well as overviews of rhetorical situations–before turning to assigned coursework.

Class Reports: ENGL 1302, Sections 02 and 03–Final Exam Week

For the week, each section met only once: Section 02 met on Tuesday, 9 May 2017, at 1030 in Weir 111, while Section 03 met on Monday, 8 May 2017, at 1030 in Weir 111. Rosters were unchanged since the last class meeting; Section 02 listed 14 students, while Section 03 listed 16. Thirteen students from Section 02 and all from Section 03 sat for the exam. No office hours were offered.

Performance will be discussed in a forthcoming report, along with results of the survey from the Spring 2017 term that have not yet been compiled.

For the final class meeting of the term, discussion addressed questions from earlier in the term and attended to the ChEss, for which the due date had been extended until the end of the calendar day against earlier instructor absence. A brief survey concluded the meeting.

Students should please note that office hours will not occur during exam week. Additionally, the instructor will be heading to a conference later in that week, so contact opportunities will be limited as the semester closes out.

A family emergency called the instructor away today. As a result, classes will not meet today. Updates will be posted as available, but it is exceedingly unlikely that a quiz will be on offer during the week.

As a special notice, the following terms are to be considered eligible for inclusion on the FinEx: Freytag’s Pyramid, In medias res, Interwoven Plot, Poststructuralism, Structuralism.
