Once again, the time is rushing by;
I can’t stop it, and I shouldn’t try.
It ever moves on,
Each new moment is gone,
Slipping by me; how much I could cry!
One third being gone means two-thirds still remain, and I’ve still got more to give you!
Its pinnacle now has passed by,
That conference of scholars that I
Thought to make a home
Ere I was forced to roam;
I think on its pleasures and cry.
I still mean to keep this going, and I’ve still got more writing in me if you need it done!
With squats, I went perhaps too far
In doing them holding the bar.
I added some weight
That my knees now do hate;
How they told me is not so bizarre.

I ate too much cheese yesterday;
How now I am obliged to pay–
Not in coin or with check,
But my belly is wrecked!
Will I learn from this lesson? O, nay!
I’ve got more in me; get some of it while it lasts!
I know that I should have been there,
For, although she knows that I care,
I’m not often found;
I’m seldom around,
And there’s ever less time I can spare.
There’s more to come. Maybe some of it can be for you?
While many are hopping around,
Delighting in what they have found,
I sit. I look on
And hope to be gone
From where others’ smiles abound.
I’m happy to write for you, in short form or long!
Getting crabs: that, I do not regret,
Since it never was really a threat
Given how I have acted;
I have never transacted
Such as would incur that kind of debt.
Don’t be left standing on the sand; get your writing well in hand!
To list, too, the things I’ve not done
And wish that I had, I would run
Beyond my life’s time,
Pass all sense and rhyme,
And, again, would’ve barely begun.
I’m keepin’ ’em comin’, but it ain’t too late to get your own in!

And still, I’d’ve barely begun.
